Instant Pot Refried Beans
Ingredients
- 1 pound dried pinto beans
- 7 cups of water
- 1 cup chopped onion
- 3 cloves minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 3 tablespoons bacon fat or olive oil
Instructions
- Put the dried pinto beans in a large bowl and cover them with water; pick out any damaged beans, or stone or debris.
- Discard the water
- Put everything in the instant pot, cover the pot, seal the lid
- Chose bean/chili button and set to 45 minutes
- Let pressure release naturally
- Place large sieve over a bowl and drain the liquid
- Return the beans from the sieve to the instant pot and add a little bit of liquid.
- Use immersion blender to make smooth add more liquid if needed. Salt and pepper to taste.
